Armed with his sushi knife, with the magical soy sauce and wasabi paste but more than anything, with ambition and patience, Naofumi Tsuchiya came to Cluj in 2003 to show romanians that fish can also be eaten raw. He founded the first japanese restaurant in our beautiful city and started sharing the secrets of japanese food with us. Sushi, sashimi, teriyaki, ramen, tempura and many other japanese delicacies awaited all who came inside.

Years have passed and the restaurant expanded and grew, having thousands of satisfied guests in its 17 years of existence. We looked at the reviews for the Tokyo Restaurant and must say they were correct, this really is a must visit if you want to try Japanese food. The food and service were exquisite. We had the lunch menu and the waitress recommended trying the yellow fin tuna, which was delightful. Highly recommended but would book in advance.

This restaurant has a good reputation, well trained staff and very good sushi selection. Personally, I’ve eaten sushi in Cluj from every possible places and I declare them the best on Cluj market.

The pork ramen was really perfect on a cold February day, and the sushi was fresh and beautifully presented.The hosts, chefs, and waiters were all kind and professional and the waitress explained what each food was and how to eat it. Well-priced for sushi in Romania as well!

I visited the restaurant in 17 November with a business partner and ordered a sushi plate that the waiter recommended us and a bottle of red wine. I’ve been with my girlfriend in 20 November at this restaurant to try the fine dining experience and let me tell you. It is the best restaurant in Romania! Our waitress, Sabina, took care of us and explained everything from wine to proper sushi serving. The dinner was astonishing!

One of the best restaurants in Cluj-Napoca, the food is amazing and fresh and the service is really good. Also, if you get the chance get a Tasting Menu. I BET you cannot find a better combination of authentic Japanese dishes.
